Skills
In Battle of the Immortals, skills form your arsenal of spells and abilities to beat back the forces of darkness across the land of Motenia. Skills are what make every class unique and learning new skills will place new and powerful methods of mayhem and destruction at your fingertips.
Learning New Skills
Every character will automatically learn new skills as they gain levels. Skills can be learned at level 10, 25, 40, 55, 70, and 85. All classes learn new skills at these same levels. In addition, there are other class specific skills that characters can learn once obtaining a special item in-game. You can check what skills are available at which levels at any time by clicking the Skills button on the bottom of your screen (Default "S" key). You can see all the relevant information about your skills on this screen, including mana cost, cooldown (the time you must wait before using the skill again), range and a skill description.
Upon reaching the required level for a skill, a small window will pop up at the bottom of your screen. This window will contain all new skills available to you at your level.
From this window you can click and drag your new skills to your action bars.
Types of Skills
There are two main types of skills for Battle of the Immortals characters; active and passive skills.
Active skills must be placed on an action bar to be used and have a direct effect like dealing damage, healing a player, or placing a harmful effect on an enemy.
Passive skills increase some facet of your character and are always active after reaching their required level. Passive skills will also appear in the New Skills Learned window when your character reaches the appropriate level, but you won't be able to drag a passive skill onto any of your action bars.
Leveling Up Skills
As you take on stronger and stronger opponents in Battle of the Immortals, your skills can be upgraded to meet the growing challenge. Travel to Atlantis Square and speak to Skill Trainer Mina in the north-west of the square to increase the level of skills you have already learned.
Each skill begins at level 1 and has 10 levels of effectiveness. While obtaining the skill at first costs nothing, raising the level of a skill requires both Coins and Experience you have gained toward your next level. You will have to balance increasing your character's level to get better stats and possibly learning new skills, and increasing the level of the skills you already have.
Special Skills
- There are two tabs in your Skill window. The first tab is Class Skills. These are unique to your class and can be leveled up by speaking with Skill Trainer Mina as described above. The second tab is your Special Skills. Special Skills are all considered Active Skills and must be bound to an action bar slot to be used. All characters have the same Special Skills. (Normal Attack is a slight variation to both of these two rules and explained below.)
- Normal Attack: This is the base attack of your class. It deals damage to your target based on your statistics and the weapons you have equipped. You only need to click Normal Attack once to begin attacking your target repeatedly, or you can simply click on what you want to attack to initiate your Normal Attack. Every class has a different special effect associated with their Normal Attack.
- Berzerker: Your normal attack has a chance to stun your target for 2 seconds, preventing them from taking any action for the duration.
- Champion: Your normal attack has a chance to reduce the Physical and Magic Defense of your target.
- Heretic: Your normal attack has a chance to Silence your target for 2 seconds, preventing them from using any skills for the duration.
- Magus: Your normal attack has a chance to Freeze the target in place, preventing all movement for the duration.
- Slayer: Your normal attacks have a chance to be a Dual Strike, hitting your target twice instantly.
