Pets
Pets assist the player in combat, and are an integral part of game play. They supply the player with an additional source of damage output, as well as an additional target to take a monsters attention off the players themselves.
Acquiring a Pet
To catch your own pet, you must start by slaying monsters for a chance to catch one. Occasionally after you slain enough of them, a version of that monster (With a green name) will appear for you to capture. Click on that monster and your character will begin to catch it as a pet.
Your new pet will now be available in your Pet Tab (Access by pressing the default hotkey "X"). Just hit the summon button to bring out your pet and have it fight alongside with you!
Pet Terminology
- It's important to know what all the information listed on your pet tab means:
- Vitality: HP
- Strength: Physical attack
- Spirit: MP
- Intellect: Magic Attack
- Dexterity: Accuracy, Evasion, Critstrike
- There are also some non-combat oriented stats, and here we explain what each term means.
- Loyalty: Your pet's loyalty is how much they are willing to follow you. Loyalty rating drops when the pet dies in battle, and if it falls below 60, you will no longer be able to summon it. To increase the loyalty, you will need to purchase a Trainer License from Reis in Atlantic Square (Location 103,194) and use it on your pet.
- Growth: Determines how much your pet's stats will increase when your pet gains a level.
- Mood: Each type offers a unique bonus to your pet's combat abilities.
- Naughty: Increases attack rate by 15%
- Serious: Increases Accuracy and Evasion by 10%
- Reckless: Increases Critstrike rate by 3%
- Excited: Increases physical attack and magic attack by 5%
- Cowardly: Increases physical defense and magic defense by 10%
- Calm: Increases HP and MP by 10%
- Quality: The quality of the pet will affects the Growth stat.
- Fortify: Ranges from 0 to +15, and increases combat stats by a certain percentage.
- Boost: Increases the Growth of a pet beyond that of its base value at any given Quality and level.
- Summon Level: The level required by the player to summon the pet.
- Essence: Signifies your pet's potential to participate in Boosting.
- Title: A title signifies how "Awesome" your pet is. Use it to brag to your friends.
- Power: A signification of the overall grade of your pet. Power can be uploaded to the realm ladder to be compared to other players' pets.
Pet Skills and Stats
As your pet levels up, they will gain attribute points which you can then distribute to improve their stats.
To learn new skills, you will need to purchase the skill from Didier in Atlantis (Location 108,194). They are also available in the Marketplace.
After you have both opened up free slots, and have acquired a corresponding pet skill, you may speak to Ligg and choose to Learn Pet Skills. To learn a skill, select your pet, select the open slot you wish to use, place, select the desired skill in the skill book slot, and then finally select "Learn" (Note the small fee that will go along with this process).
Rainbow Valley
Rainbow Valley is a special area designed for pets. To gain access, you must speak to Ludia in Atlantis Square (Location 99,194). In Rainbow Valley, you will find many unique catchable monsters exclusive to that area. Additionally, it is also the location of the Pet Melding NPC Gadro (Location 135,100).
Pet Boost
Speaking to Gadro will allow you to boosting your pet. Pet Boosting will require a Magic Stone of Growth, or a Catalyst of Growth to increase the rate of successful boosting. A successful boost will increase your pet's Growth stats. The change will show up on its boost level, as well as its Growth Rate.
A second way to boost a pet is to use another pet. For the boost to be successful, the Auxiliary Pet must have a higher Summon Level than the Target Pet. Note that the Essence Level of the Auxiliary Pet must be above 0, while the Target Pet's essence may remain 0.
Pet Stash
Gardo will also allow you to store additional pets by selecting Pet Stash. Just speak with him and select the pets you wish to stow away. You can increase your Pet Stash size with the Pet Store License.
Pet Reincarnation
To reincarnate your pet, you will have to select which pet you wish to reincarnate, then insert the Rebirth Stones and select "Reincarnate". Reincarnating your pet does a number of things: It will raise its Quality, Mood, and base Growth Rate. Be warned though, if you reincarnate a pet too many times, the Growth Rate may fluctuate in random value. Also, keep in mind that when you reincarnate your pet, its Character Level, Boost Level, and Fortify level will be reset.
Pet Fortification
Fortifying your pet will increase your pet's combat stats. You will need to select the pet you wish to Fortify, and use a Pet Gem (Pet Gems can be acquired from the Marketplace). Be warned, different levels (0-15) have variable chances of succeeding.
Pet Decomposition
Pet Decomposition is a way to recycle a pet into valuable pet items. Speak with Ligg and then choose the pet you wish to crystallize. Higher Quality pets will yield higher quality items after the process is complete.
